Welcome to the New Beginning of Professionalism!
Welcome to the New Beginning of Professionalism!- 2nd & 3rd Dan Black Belt
Objective – Build up students’ REAL LIFE leadership skills such as good public speaking &
communication skills & allow students to develop professionalism by
offering them their 1st job.
Philosophy - ‘지.덕.체 | JI.DUK.CHE | 智德體
KTKD Black belt curriculum is built on the philosophy of ‘지 .덕.체’ [ 智德體 ] (Ji.Duk.Che).
This is also the black belt philosophy followed in Korea. Literally translated,
it is broken into three parts:
• 지육(智育) (Ji - Yuk) = Intellectual Training
• 덕육(德育) (Duk -Yuk) = Moral Education
• 체육(體育) (Che - Yuk) = Physical Education
Grand Masters in the United States have adopted this philosophy as
“Leadership” & “Professionalism.”
지 Ji(智) is taught by showing students how to apply the training they have been given in
real life situations, in other words, ‘Professionalism.’
덕 DUK (德) means to educate students that their choices and deeds not only affect
themselves but their community and society as well.
This is the core of character development.
We want our black belt students to be good citizens first.
We help them to build a good character through ‘leadership training’
‘skill demonstrations’ & ‘community sharing.’
체 CHE (體) is the actual physical training of the major components of TKD such as
poomsae and sparring.
Academic learning and memorization are no longer sufficient.
Just like learning Taekwondo and memorizing it are no longer enough.
What is learned must be used for the benefit of the student and the community.
We do not live alone and it is the responsibility of every person to help improve
the world in which we live.
The benefits of a Taekwondo lifestyle must not only be learned and used
but shared with others.
